Everything you need to know about joining and making the most of AgoraMHN.
About AgoraMHN
New to the platform? Start here to understand what AgoraMHN is, who it’s for, and what makes it different.
AgoraMHN is a modern, transparent marketplace where mental health professionals can present themselves fully — not just list their credentials — and where people looking for therapy can actually get to know you before they reach out. Think of it as your marketing hub, including your own mini practice website, living inside a marketplace where prospective clients are already searching.
AgoraMHN is built for licensed mental health professionals in private practice who want to attract their most desirable clients, especially full-fee clients. It’s especially well-suited for clinicians who want a low-hassle, non-technical way to market themselves online.
Most directories list you. AgoraMHN helps you distinguish yourself. With tools like video showcases, an integrated blog, dynamic fee scheduling, and side-by-side comparison visibility, you can convey real expertise, show genuine warmth, and attract clients who are the right fit. The whole platform promotes differentiation and helps you stand out as unique in a sea of therapists.

| Plan | Annual | Monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Founding Member FREE | 6 months free | — |
| Self-Service | $399 / year | $39.95 / mo |
| Fully-Managed | $599 / year | $59.95 / mo |
If you’re one of the first 200 professionals to join, you receive a full, free 6-month membership. A credit card is required to hold your spot, but you won’t be charged. This is our way of inviting early adopters to help shape the platform and get a genuine head start building their marketing presence before the broader launch. As an early adopter, you can help build the marketplace you’ve always wanted — and that prospective clients have always needed.
Both plans give you full access to every platform feature. The Self-Service plan puts you in the driver’s seat — you build and manage your portal yourself. The Fully-Managed plan is for professionals who’d rather focus on their practice and leave the technical setup, maintenance, and ongoing optimization to a dedicated AgoraMHN team member. We ask you questions via email, you respond. That’s it. You can still make changes yourself whenever you’d like — you just have a knowledgeable assistant handling the details.
Paid memberships are non-refundable once they begin. We encourage you to take immediate advantage of the free Founding Member period to make sure AgoraMHN is the right fit for your practice before committing.
Yes. You can cancel at any time. Your portal will remain active through the end of your current billing period, after which it will be removed from the marketplace. There are no long-term contracts.
AgoraMHN is launching with a local market focus before expanding nationally. If you’re uncertain whether prospective clients in your area are actively using the platform yet, the Founding Member period is the ideal time to get established — so that when the marketplace reaches full scale in your region, your portal is already fully built and indexed.
Your Portal & Content
How to build out your portal, what you can post, and how content works on the platform.
Most members can complete a solid initial setup in an afternoon. You can revise and add to it anytime, so there’s no pressure to have everything perfect on day one.
Absolutely — and we encourage it. Video is the most powerful way to create a genuine connection with someone who’s still in the process of choosing a therapist. You can upload original videos directly or embed content from other streaming platforms.
Yes. If a video is relevant to your work — explaining a treatment approach like DBT or the Gottman Method, for example — it belongs in your portal. Content that helps prospective clients understand what working with you looks like is always welcome.
Yes, with a couple of caveats. If the content was originally published on your own website, simply link back to the original post with a note like: “This article first appeared on [your website].” If it was published on a third-party platform like LinkedIn, review that platform’s terms before reposting — policies vary, and some platforms retain certain rights to content published there. You cannot copy your profile from other marketplaces (e.g., Psychology Today).
Yes. Content you publish on AgoraMHN can be posted elsewhere, but it must include the disclaimer: “This article first appeared on AgoraMHN.”
Yes — books, e-books, webinars, and similar offerings that are relevant to your professional practice are all fair game. Keep in mind that the portal isn’t configured for direct sales transactions, so you’ll handle the actual purchase process through your own channels.
To boost your income potential, AgoraMHN gives you the option to publish different fees based on time of day or day of the week — similar in concept to a sliding scale, but tied to your schedule rather than client income. You can price premium time slots accordingly (like Saturday hours) while offering more competitive rates for lower-demand availability (like Monday mornings).
Getting Found & Chosen
How search works, how you stand out, and how AgoraMHN helps clients make real decisions.
By default, members are displayed on the search results page in a random order within a specified zip code and, thereafter, by proximity to the user’s specified location.
AgoraMHN is built around differentiation. Your videos, written work, specialties, fees, and availability are all visible to prospective clients — and they’re encouraged to compare providers side by side on the factors that matter most to them. You’re not just a name on a list. You’re a clinician with a voice, a perspective, and a practice that the right client can genuinely evaluate.
It’s a natural concern, but it misses the bigger picture. Your real competition isn’t the therapist in the next profile — it’s the woefully inadequate ways most people find therapists in the first place: a friend’s recommendation, an insurance list, a Google search. None of those methods give clients enough to go on. They don’t help someone choose — they just surface a name and leave the rest to chance.
AgoraMHN exists to fix that. The comparison feature isn’t designed to pit therapists against each other — it’s designed to replace a broken process with something that actually works. Rich, compelling portals where clients can explore real people with real depth. When someone chooses you here, they’re not guessing. They know why.
Yes. As part of your membership, AgoraMHN actively markets the network to third-party referrers in your local area — extending your reach beyond clients who come to the platform directly.
Member Responsibilities
What AgoraMHN asks of its members — and why it matters.
AgoraMHN holds its members to a higher standard of professional responsiveness — it’s part of what makes the network trustworthy for clients. As a member, you agree to:
- Hold an active license in good standing and carry professional liability insurance
- Publish your standard psychotherapy fee within your portal
- Respond to inquiries from prospective clients within one business day
- Complete and post a required video interview (see below)
Every member is required to record a short video answering five standard questions — the kind of questions a client might ask you in a first consultation anyway. This video becomes a centerpiece of your portal and one of the most effective ways clients will get to know you.
The five required questions are:
- Do you specialize in treating particular problems? If so, how did those become your specialty?
- What philosophy or therapeutic style guides your work with clients?
- How would you describe yourself as a therapist?
- How would you suggest someone go about finding the right therapist?
- What character traits do you believe are most essential for an effective psychotherapist?
After answering the five required questions, you’re welcome to pose and answer additional questions of your own to highlight other aspects of your practice. See a sample list of optional topics here.
